Neural Network Powered Smooth/Predictive RSI for Amibroker (AFL)

The following formula was create using the new version of the WiseTrader Toolbox which can compile trained neural networks to AFL.

Yellow RSI – This is the 14 day neural network powered predictive RSI. It is both smooth and has slightly less lag.

Blue – Standard 14 day RSI included with Amibroker.

Red – Smoothed 14 day RSI. Smoothing has added some lag.

There was a problem with the previous version so please re-download.

It is of course not as good as the one in the WiseTrader Toolbox. That one has less lag. But it is what was used here because not everyone has the toolbox.

I recommend using thresholds for signal generation and use the optimizer to pick the best levels. I never really had much success with using a signal. I think that only works well with MACD.

Dear Admin,

First of all :) a nice concept!!!

Tried your original submission and found that the RSI looked into the future and therefore it appeared to turn earlier, however this was after the fact because of the future look. Modified the code to remove this. Found out today that you too have done the same. 2 Comments-

1. The method used by you is strikingly similar to the finware digital generator – http://fin-ware.com/indicators.html. The nice thing is that you seem to have wrapped this generator into an AFL function in your toolbox. However I am not so sure about the aptness of the naming as ‘neural network’.

2. The smoothening imparted to the RSI has the tradeoff in the penalty of removing the neccessary 2 -3 bar divergence signals. In my opinion, this takes away more from the indicator than it helps.

The looking into the future was my fault I was a bit hasty in releasing it :) no harm done though.

1. Any similarity is just a coincidence. This is a neural network created to predict a smooth RSI into the future using past values of the RSI included in Amibroker. Then this neural network was compiled to AFL.

2. I was restricted in what I could release because neural networks require inputs between 0 and 1 and I had to use something that was within those bounds like RSI. I have made better versions since then but they need to be tailored for different stocks for best performance.

But in my testing both the original RSI and the smooth RSI lost money whereas this version actually made a small profit. So I guess more was gained then lost. I tested on the ASX market using a simple threshold system.
